Benjamin Constant de Rebecque

Benjamin Constant de Rebecque was born on October 25, 1767 at Lausanne, the son of a swiss officer.

Having published various political works since 1795, he settled in Paris and was elected to the Tribunat after the coup d'état of 18 Brumaire (November 9, 1799).

He soon became an opponent to Napoleon Bonaparte.

He died at Paris on December 8, 1830 abd was buried in the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris (29th division)  Tomb of Benjamin Constant.
