Duke of Cadore
Born on August 4, 1756 in Roanne, central France, Jean-Baptiste de Nompère de Champagny participated to the American Revolutionary War as a marine officer.
He later became a diplomat, and served as Ambassador of France at Vienna from 1801 to 1804.
He held the posts of Minister of Internal Affairs from 1804 to 1807, then Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1807 to 1811.
Emperor Napoleon made him Duke of Cadore in 1809.
Jean-Baptiste de Nompère de Champagny died on July 3rd, 1834 in Paris.
His tomb is located in Montparnasse cemetery, Paris.
