15 October – In St. Helena, twenty-eight witnesses, whose Generals Bertrand and Gourgaud, Mamluk Ali (Louis-Etienne de Saint-Denis) and Louis-Joseph Marchand, former chief valet de chambre of the Emperor, attend the exhumation of Napoleon.
15 December – Les Invalides receive the casket containing the ashes of Napoleon.
